Rare double purlin plate barn

Description

This four bent, three 20’wide bay, center bay side entrance. bank barn is 60′ x 60′. One of few double purlin plate barn ever made. Large hewn upper tie beams (10 x 10) are 60′ long while lower tie are connected in between the post. There are only two barns known to have 60′ tie beams. It’s longest known to date. Each bent has five posts. Double canted queen posts (6×8) that support the purlin plates which support the sawn rafters. This barn would make an ideal wedding/event barn. Modification can be made by removing the center post and its two connecting member and adding one 30′ long beam some 3′ below the 60′ tie beams. This would create an 30′ wide clear span down the entire length of barn. Rafters are sawn 2 x 5 by 2′-0″ on center.
